HOW awful it is to see the vandalism in the Bournemouth Gardens after all the effort made by the council to entertain the visitors and locals with candlelights and fireworks.
I was working in the town centre on Saturday starting at 8am and was horrified to see a guy who said he was one of the organisers paddling in his wellies, fishing with his hands in the stream, recovering the glass jars that had been part of the displays.
The vandals had destroyed one of the displays completely and had thrown dozens of the glass jars into the stream, which, of course, left many broken, and left a massive amount of glass lurking on the stream’s bed waiting for an unsuspecting child, adult or pet to step on.
The poor guy was absolutely devastated that all the work that has been put in to keep the 100-year-old tradition going had turned into a very dangerous situation because of the stupidity of the mindless vandals.
