COULD the council please explain how they can spend £76,000 on a ‘Welcome to Bournemouth’ sign but are unable to fix the pedestrian crossing by the Cooper Dean roundabout?
We are encouraged to use other means of transport rather than taking our cars and as someone who works at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital, have started cycling to work to alleviate some of the unnecessary rush hour traffic and parking problems.
Unfortunately, this crossing has been out of action for nearly a week, as obviously the council has been busy with more important aspects of the town’s lighting.
There has already been a serious accident on this crossing, even when the lights were working, so why are we cyclists and pedestrians having to take our lives into our hands by trying to get across in one piece, especially as most motorists seem to think there is no speed limit in the early mornings.
I am able to get across the road fairly briskly, but how about the less mobile, especially people visiting the hospital? Do we really think that people will return to Bournemouth just because there are a few lights on a bridge welcoming them?
We think not.
Yet another waste of our taxpayers’ money. Please Bournemouth Council fix the lights before there is another serious accident.
