YESTERDAY morning we were awoken at 4am by the police telling us my son's motorbike had been stolen, and where we could recover it.
Not a good start to the day! During the afternoon I went to B&Q to purchase a security light and a big padlock.
Money in this house, as in many others, is in short supply and mine was all in change – we did a car boot sale on Wednesday.
I thought I knew exactly how much I had and that it would cover my purchases with a few pence to spare.
As I fed the change into the self service till I realised my maths had let me down and I was a few pence short. I called the assistant over to void the transaction but, before she did the security guard stepped in and paid the difference!
I would like use this letter to thank him again and to tell him he has restored my faith in the innate good in the human race, and made a bad day good. Thank you.
