Thank you for the music I WOULD like to reply to the letter from Mr Mackay in which he refers to the bandstand in the Lower Gardens.
This subject was well aired some weeks ago and indeed I had the opportunity to reply to an email from Mr Mackay at that time.
He was absolutely correct, the cleanliness of the bandstand could have been better, we ran a scheme where people using the facility were asked to clean up after themselves, unfortunately this didn’t always happen.
Since then I have asked that the bandstand is kept clean on a regular basis by Council staff and I have been assured that we are continuing to check for litter etc on a weekly basis.
The lighting units are currently being cleaned and fixed.
Regarding the restriction of bands he mentioned in his letter, this referred to an acoustic group and certainly not a brass band and that issue has now been resolved too.
I hope Mr Mackay and his fellow band members continue to entertain us for many years to come and that they will feel more comfortable in future with their clean surroundings.
