I WOULD suggest Dorset Police Commissioner Mr Underhill is being disingenuous in his argument for a Dorset-wide local authority.
Of the four emergency services, the Coastguard are a national organisation, the ambulance service covers the south west and Dorset Fire and Rescue have recently merged with Wiltshire to effect savings.
If he is keen to make savings for the council tax payer, he should start at home.
He should put his time and effort into making a case for amalgamating Dorset Police with neighbouring ones.
Think of the savings from having one police commissioner instead of two or three.
