AT THIS time of year, weeds and thorn bushes are encroaching onto paths and pavements at a rapid rate and appear, like the grass verges, to be very low on the local authority agenda.
It was therefore nice to see a group of local volunteers hard at work clearing the hedges and undergrowth along New Road, near the river bridge.
We were on the bus when we saw them working and on the return journey were amazed at the improvement they had made to that stretch of road.
We don’t know who any of you were but still, our thanks for your efforts to improve the local environment.
It’s a pity the local authority didn’t do it in the first place.
