OUR daily walk usually takes us through Bournemouth gardens to the pier and back again.
When we reach the section between the tennis courts and the Square, we find a number of the benches occupied by groups of men (no evidence of social distancing) surrounded by a selection of bottles and cans. This can be quite intimidating.
As we enter the Lower Gardens, in spite of a clearly positioned blue cycle route sign and a “no cycling” sign painted on the ground, we are frequently passed by cyclists weaving around pedestrians heading quite fast (because it is generally downhill) towards the pier.
On not one single occasion have we seen a police presence , or any effort to control these issues, in either of these areas. Where are our bobbies on the beat if not in this obviously popular area of our town?
