I AM very disappointed that there have been no articles or letters regarding the change of name of the Mountbatten Arms in Wallisdown to Miller & Carter.
It has been the Mountbatten Arms since I can remember, and has changed hands before but always kept the name.
Perhaps people are too busy negotiating the roundabout to notice.
I find it extremely disrespectful of Miller & Carter to have changed it. Earl Mountbatten of Burma was a cousin of the Duke of Edinburgh, a distinguished war leader, Supreme Allied Commander South East Asia, Chief of the Defence Staff, First Sea Lord, last Viceroy of India and its first Governor General.
He was murdered by the IRA in 1979 along with his twin grandson Nicholas and grandmother Lady Brabourne.
