I noticed in the Echo a month ago that Poole council were considering banning dogs on part of Sandbanks beach.
I bring this up now as we live near Branksome Rec.
We have generally tried to keep out of the disputes on the football club, however for us dogs are the problem on the recreation ground, not football or any of the other games going on.
We hesitate to say this because we know that many dog owners become angry.
But living near a recreation ground, nothing is more of a misery in your own home than barking dogs.
There is no defence, even through double glazing – barking is what we get every day at any time from morning until late evening.
Also, when you’re out dogs coming up and barking at you, and even worse jumping up, which is very upsetting.
I am sorry but we are not all dog lovers – many live in fear of dogs, and many people are bitten every year, and far worse as we know from the media.
We hope therefore that, after the beaches, Poole council will take a good look at the local recreation grounds.
Dogs are not allowed on school fields and playing fields, so why are they allowed on a recreation ground?
