The answer to Transdev’s withdrawal of the number 12 open-top summer bus service (Daily Echo, June 4) is for Wilts & Dorset to extend the successful number 50 Swanage to Bournemouth open top service along the number 12 route to Hengistbury Head and Christchurch Quay.
I am convinced that such a service, providing open top buses from Christchurch and Hengistbury Head all the way along the coast and across the Sandbanks ferry to Swanage would prove very popular with holidaymakers and residents.
The present half hourly summer service from Bournemouth to Swanage is well used.
Extending this service along the Overcliff would benefit all the hotels along this route besides restoring, for passengers, the spectacular view of our coastline.
Wilts & Dorset, managed by Go Ahead, often use open top buses for their X12 service to Lymington in the summer.
Another idea is for this X12 service to be linked to the number 50 service to provide an open top service all the way from Lymington to Swanage!
