Why is there a drive in some quarters to make Branksome Rec a political issue? (Playing games with football club? Have Your Say, June 16) Poole Town FC is not being "led" by anyone.
The majority of Conservative councillors firmly believe that our proposals have substantial community benefits, which cannot be delivered otherwise.
We have put our proposals to the council, backed by the credibility we have earned by virtue of what we have done at Tatnam, both on and off the playing field.
The letter states “they will be, at the very least, unwelcome by the residents of Branksome.”
This myth needs to be laid to rest once and for all.
There is a huge number of residents who support our scheme, there is an action group of residents who support us and many locals are not at all happy about those that oppose us being referred to as “the residents.”
This should not be a political issue. The question should simply be “is the scheme good for the community?”
Fortunately the majority of councillors and many, many residents believe that to be the case.
CHRIS REEVES, vice chairman, Poole Town FC
