Why are some people so keen on stopping cyclists making use of the promenade?

Most cyclist using this facility are law abiding careful people. As always there are a few who will speed. Should the minority curtail the enjoyment of all cyclists?

At the moment access is not unlimited. Imagine the outcry if all vehicles were banned from using the road because again a few persons drink and drive speed, kill and injure other road users. Live and let live. Share the good things.
