ABOUT four or years ago I was on holiday in South Devon.
On-street parking was not easy due to the terrain and road layouts.
Car parks were available for longer- stay visitors but spaces were limited. As a casual visitor to the area I felt the local councils had found a good compromise, usually by meters offering 15- or 20-minute slots at around 20-40p.
The result seemed to be a steady availability of spaces as the previous occupier would vacate having had time to do their shopping, banking or whatever.
Surely this scheme has much going for it?
