Further to Cllr Stribley’s letter, (No done deals in planning process, Have Your Say June 17), Broadstone Residents Association, together with representatives from other residents associations, was invited to a meeting with Cllr Stribley on March 25, where questions were invited.
In common with the other associations we asked that we debate the Pitt report.
Instead there was nearly three hours of presentations on already familiar matters.
Mr Michael Garrity, senior planning officer, presented an update on Poole’s core strategy, and Peter Watson did a presentation on planning procedures.
With regard to Sir Michael Pitt’s report a statement was made that “No evidence of unlawful activity had been found”.
When pressed on the council’s intentions regarding its seven recommendations Cllr Stribley stated that the planning committee would not now be claiming the increase in allowances. With regard to Branksome Rec, if all five Conservatives members of the planning committee voted in favour of the principle of leasing public open space to Poole Town FC at full council on June 10, ie outside the planning committee, then in my opinion they are in breach of the Avoidance of Appearance of Predetermination or Bias guidance determined by the borough’s head of legal services on December 8, 2003.
This should preclude them from voting on the matter at future planning meetings. Roy Godfrey, chairman, Broadstone Residents Association
