Cllr Eades seems to be trying to crawl out from under the responsibility of costing the taxpayer a sum heading towards £200,000 minimum by promoting the applications for town and village greens (Have Your Say, June 16).
If he had asked the advocate who is, I understand, supporting the applicants, he would have been told by him that employment of a barrister to advise the council was absolutely right and proper.
The advice given to the council and its officers is that they could be considered negligent not to oppose the application, thereby making the costs inevitable from the point of application.
All this when, according to his is own letter of May 20, Poole’s open spaces are protected by “Poole’s most important planning policies – that of the protection of public open space.” – policies I am proud to have helped put in place.
Cllr Don Collier, Borough of Poole
