I must respond to Cllr Stribley’s letter.
Whilst she is correct that the site is allocated for development in the local plan, that does not give the council carte blanche to approve it. It has to also comply with other planning policies.
Many would not agree with her that the decision is totally in line with local planning policies. We of the Talbot Village Residents Association made it clear that it is our view that the application fails to comply with a number of policies. That view is shared not just by many local residents but bodies like English Nature.
It is also relevant that Bournemouth Borough Council, which is the highway authority for Wallisdown Road, has also opposed the proposals.
The Talbot Village Trust has made a considerable amount of money already from selling land to build new houses and will do so as a result of this approval.
It has supported charitable causes as far away as Bere Regis and Cranborne but has done little to benefit those living in the new part of Talbot Village. It has ignored our existence until recently.
