Do the powers that be really believe that the drop in footfall in Bournemouth town centre is due to poor weather (Daily Echo, June 22)?
We have been lacking in rain in recent months.
Surely the true reason that people have stopped coming into the town centre is the lack of short-term, free parking?
It’s a no-brainer – put parking meters on most of the town-centre roads and people will go elsewhere for a quick trip to the shops, hence the increase in trade at Castlepoint. Come on council, let’s get sensible with the charging.
