WHAT ever happened to all the beach staff at Shore Road, Sandbanks at the weekend?

On Saturday (the hottest for many years) there was not a lifeguard, beach police or first aider in sight.

Just one solitary rubbish collector, who assured me that from May there would be loads of staff, which didn’t help at all.

But they were the best behaved crowd I’ve ever seen, that is, if you don’t count the four dog fights, several people needing first aid, two children lost and a couple of fights on the beach.

But what worried me more than anything, was the amount of alcohol in bottles and glasses being taken from the nearby café on to the beach. These are not plastic, but real glass and one broken could cause mayhem.

Poole Beach office could have managed to get even a couple of staff or at least two beach police, which would have helped.

The dog owners were day trippers who were not beach-wise and didn’t realise how hot the beach would be.
