IS IT any wonder that the electorate give up on Councillors when their main concern on election night was whether they could get their lips around a pint or two?
Most people would think that the bar being open at an election counting venue was totally inappropriate.
Councillor Anne Rey states: “We’ve got people who have worked all day and are standing in this town to serve this town and they cannot get a drink.”
This gives the impression that they needed an intravenous drip of alcohol to get through the night and the poor little darlings would suffer if they do not get their fix.
And if Cllr Ron Whittaker cannot see why it is inappropriate for alcohol to be served to him and election observers he should consider his position carefully.
Cllr Rey also says: “We’re being treated like children.” Councillor, if you don’t wish to be treated as children simply act as adults.
