SO we’ve had the elections and the referendum on AV and all the political spats and divisions over the pros and cons of AV.
Might I suggest that the greater public ought to have been given a referendum on Compulsory Voting (CV) considering the lamentable turnout across the country, e.g. the Bournemouth Central turnout of 25 per cent is a pitiful disgrace.
Other countries like Australia have compulsory voting – but somehow I do not think that the major parties in this country actually want compulsory voting because it might throw up a better turnout and even diminish the overall control that the major parties do currently have between themselves.
