AS the first episode of the new series of The Apprentice opened, Sir Alan Sugar’s would-be partners were introduced as, ‘the country’s entrepreneurial elite’.

If they really are, then the country is in deep, deep trouble.

Why on earth would someone as successful as Lord Sugar even consider tying himself to any one of that bunch of self-serving, totally unlikeable, poorly-educated, uncharismatic back-stabbers, all of whom quite obviously suffer from delusions of grandeur?

One of them couldn't even spell the word vegetable.

And speaking of vegetables…
