WHAT has happened at Bournemouth Airport? Arriving back after an extended stay in Italy, I found myself unable to leave the airport on foot to catch my normal bus at Parley Cross.
It appears that the only way to and from the airport now is by combustion-engine transport. So much for the airport’s ‘environmentally friendly’ publicity.
I always saw my hike to and from Parley Cross as a small gesture towards my ‘non-green’ flight. I now have to wait for the hourly bus shuttle to Bournemouth and change repeatedly to arrive (or, so it seems, to depart) without the enjoyment of stretching my legs and easing my ‘green’conscience.
On returning, I understand the management’s reasoning for the prohibition, but surely before such draconian measures are put in place, (and at what cost the cones, barriers, security guards?) pedestrian access must be provided to a modern, environmentally friendly transport facility?
