AGAIN I read of new laws being brought in to regulate uncontrolled dogs. As I believe I’m a responsible dog owner I feel I have nothing to fear from these laws.

I always leave the house with at least three poobags per dog and will keep my dogs on-lead where by-laws and common sense dictates. That said, is it not time that cat owners were also made to control their charges?

Cats are probably causing the greatest predation of wild birds in this country. Surely owners must take some responsibility for this. Cats, like dogs, also foul, though usually in someone else’s garden, often in a sandpit, as I experienced when my children were young.

And as for their noise, many a night’s sleep has been broken by cats fighting in the street or calling to an un-spayed female. Also, when I go out to work or shop, I do not allow my dogs to roam the streets, so why should it be different for cats?
