FURTHER to the statement by a South West Trains’ spokesman quote: “Our absolute priority is to run a safe railway for our passengers and staff” – then surely the initiative and actions taken by the station master Mr Faletto in alerting the situation to the attention of the signal box operator and requesting the emergency shut down of power to the rail line so he could safely clear the line of a shopping trolley, thus averting an accident, must have fully complied with the company policy to safeguard their passengers and staff.

In this instance Mr Faletto should never have been personally penalised but instead should be highly commended for his actions and be either reinstated or compensated for preventing a potential public accident.
