ON reading your article about the wreck in the Swash channel, it raised my curiosity as in the 1970s I and a few other divers often dived a wreck just inside the Swash.
We called it the “Antler Wreck” because it had a lot of antlers on and around it, sometimes it was uncovered and other times completely covered in sand. I wonder if it is the same wreck?
We also dived what we thought was a Lancaster bomber, (we could have been wrong), this was on the eastern side of the Main Channel, just past the start of the Swash.
We did salvage parts of it but stupidly left the items at the Fisherman’s Dock next to the old lifeboat house in Poole, from where they disappeared.
We also used to regularly dive the six Valentine tanks.
