SO, now it’s official. The new Pavilion ‘Theatre’ manager is to concentrate on “business development opportunities such as conferences and exhibitions”. (Echo, May 13).
Strange that, considering the venue is called the Pavilion “Theatre”. In my view a theatre is for plays, musicals, opera and ballet. So I guess we are now to be deprived even more of these forms of entertainment.
Perhaps he should concentrate on returning some quality programming to the area as the Poole Lighthouse’s quality has also declined in the last few years.
This leaves anyone wishing for quality and variety to continue travelling to the Mayflower, Southampton.
If, as Paul Griffiths is quoted as saying, he wishes to reacquaint residents, local business partners and visitors with the venture he will not achieve this by concentrating on conferences and exhibitions.
An own goal by the BH Live Cultural Trust.
