A DOG training and play space is to be crated in Slades Farm later this year. Are we to assume this is the run up to a complete ban on dogs being exercised off-lead on what is left of the ‘open space’?
Are all dog owners to walk their dogs into an enclosed ‘paddock’ to enable them to chase a ball and enjoy some exercise after half a century of freedom on open fields?
The 250m cycle track – officially titled Bournemouth Cycle Centre – dominates, with tarmac paths to allow easy access to cyclists coming from all directions.
Cyclists at speed, families walking to St Mark’s school, pedestrians, dogs running free, an accident waiting to happen and naturally cyclists will be given precedence over all.
They have even got themselves a new set of traffic lights plus crossing over boundary road – situated next to the bridge.
Council short of money? Not evident round here.
Residents short of green space? Yes, unless you’re a cyclist – or a footballer – or a skateboarder/BMX rider. There, back to bikes again.
