IN reply to PJ Littlefield’s letter of May 10 re: Owning your Council House. You have obviously been brainwashed by your Labour diehards. It was the best thing the Thatcher government did.
It gave people an incentive to do something for themselves for a change and not be dependent on their local council. My family lived on the Dagenham Estate, one of the largest in outer London and many tenants there welcomed the opportunity to buy their house. Nothing to do with a “political stunt”.
We moved from Dagenham years ago and decided to buy our own property elsewhere. A decision we never regretted. Many of those tenants who decided to sell made a substantial profit.
