I HAVE read and fully agree with the letter printed in the Echo from Mrs Thompson.
Bournemouth Airport is actively discouraging the very people needed to make its venture viable, the residents who can fly.
Incensed at the £2.50 charge I have looked at the Manchester Airport Group (fully owned by the 10 councils of Manchester) and discovered that the amount we are expected to pay at Bournemouth is not comparable with their other airports, charges are either cheaper or non-existent.
East Midlands charge £1 for 10 minutes drop-off whilst Manchester has 10 minutes free for drop-off.
The jewel in the crown has to be Humberside airport where you can park free for 15 minutes.
Is this a prime example of the north/south divide?
Also, as a resident of Poole there is no direct shuttle service so we have no choice but to reach the airport by car or taxi.
Looking forward to winter, I find I can fly from Bristol with Ryanair to Spain but, it would appear, flights from Bournemouth will yet again be unavailable.
So Bournemouth Airport appear to be trying to get the most amount of money in the quickest time and I am amazed to think that a so-called International Airport will have no winter schedule to mainland Europe.
