IT was with great sadness I read of the proposed closure of the Bournemouth Pier Theatre and only trust that second thoughts may be given to this action.

Have the public been questioned as to why they are not visiting the theatre? Wrong type of shows? Costs? Why?

I believe every effort must be made to retain the theatre.

It was of particular interest to read of the many famous personalities who have appeared at the Pier Theatre.

However. may I remind the Daily Echo readers of a really special occasion, which was held at the Pier Theatre.

Held on May 10, 1997 – The Celebration of Bournemouth becoming a new unitary authority, which I had the privilege of organising.

Such a celebration should support retaining the theatre.
