LAST Thursday, I had to collect some relatives from a late night arrival from the Canaries, only to be met with what I can only describe as an obstacle course to enter the passenger collection area of Bournemouth Airport.

To add insult to injury, I was told that it would cost me £2.50 (just to pick up passengers) for about a 3-5 minute stop. This is little short of extortion.

If the airport approach road is council owned, there is now no safe passenger access to the terminal building from the road. We don’t all have cars. The council should have kept control of such a precious asset.

I understand from the people I picked up that Gatwick (which they used recently) makes no charge for drop-offs or pick-ups.

The present traffic arrangement at Bournemouth Airport is little less than a form of entrapment. Even the payment kiosk is inconveniently situated.

As one who has flow from Bournemouth since the 1950s (when it was know as Hurn) in Herons and Dakotas (Pionairs), I am frankly appalled by the present pig’s breakfast made by the present owners over the road and parking arrangements.
