I AM getting more concerned regarding the amount of charity bags put through my letterbox.
I have always taken the view that if I have something to give, I will give it to a charity I support and find a way to get it to them. I really don’t need all these bags through my letter box.
I have carrier bags full of them, sometimes finding up to a dozen a week on my doormat.
I tried putting them back outside so the empty bags could be collected and used again elsewhere, the pile grew and grew and still they came sometimes through the letter box and sometimes left on top of the pile on the doorstep.
Next I tried putting a notice on my door asking that no charity bags, leaflets or menus be delivered.
The leaflets and menus have ceased, but still the charity bags come through the letter box!
I will admit to several times when I see the bag come through, rushing out and asking if the delivery person can read and give them the bag back.
I have contacted some of the charities concerned and they are in turn concerned with this issue.
They don’t like to upset people by delivering these bags, they get a lot of support from doing so.
But they also agree that if there is a sign on the door the delivery person should respect it.
