REGARDING the article in Tuesdays Echo (June 14) I just could not believe that Poole Council is considering charging £31 per year to collect garden rubbish, whereas in fact they are not collected yearly but six monthly, 15 times in fact.
Do they believe that residents have a bottomless pit of money with which to pay for services which myself, and I am sure many others were under the misconception that Council Tax provides for the item in question.
Maybe not, Council Tax seems to be paying for new kerbs in many areas.
Not really essential, moving a bus stop in Wallisdown Road to a location with no space, making it awkward where, if there is a queue waiting to get on the bus, it is difficult to get off the bus.
A new crossing has been installed where the old bus stop had been for years.
Why?
Spare money perhaps with the dream of the profit that will be made for the green bin charge!
It is stated that £540,000 per year would be raised from the chargeable scheme – what would this money be put towards I wonder?
