ANDY Hanley (Echo letters, 14th June) seems to have misread the article in Faith Matters (Saturday June 11) as nowhere did the article claim that faith healers were on the streets.
It said that a group of Christians had offered to pray with people. They did not claim to have ‘miraculous powers’ and their faith was not in themselves but in God.
I have no idea whether the healings claimed can be medically legitimised or not but when I pray for someone, I ask God to do something and then leave it in His hands as to how He responds.
It is faith that has led these people to pray for others but that does not make them ‘faith healers’.
Praying for people brings support, encouragement and comfort and if God also chooses to physically heal then that is great. If He chooses instead to help them in other ways that is fine too.
