Many thanks and congratulations to Brian Earwicker and his team for organising a splendid evening with Todd Miller and the Joe Loss Orchestra in New Milton last Friday.
It is always a delight to dance to a famous top-class live band, and some of those present had travelled from Bournemouth in the rain for just that reason.
But why do such events always have to be organised by private individuals, taking any financial risk upon themselves?
Given the extent of the local taxpayers’ money that has been spent on the refurbishment of the Pavilion Ballroom, why can’t such an event take place there?
When will BH LIVE start to ‘live up’ to their rather grandiose title and put on some LIVE music for LIVE people to dance to? Why do they insist on banishing occasional visiting dance bands, like the Glenn Miller Orchestra, to the Pavilion Theatre, where one can only listen, rather than presenting them in the Pavilion Ballroom, where one can both listen and dance?
Perhaps the Regional Newspaper of the Year could help with a campaign to get the Pavilion Ballroom used more extensively for its original purpose?
