AS a member of a community group which organises four litter picks per year, I would like to congratulate the 500 Hall & Woodhouse staff who took part in their own local litter picks, as reported in the Echo on June 15.
However, it is a great shame that a similar community spirit does not extend to the company itself, which has refused to tidy up the Greenridge site in the centre of Upton, despite several pleas.
The site has now been derelict and an appalling eyesore for over three years, pending planning permission to redevelop – although that need not have prevented remedial action.
Not withstanding the granting of planning permission recently, following an appeal, still no attempt has been made to remove debris and rubbish.
Perhaps Hall &Woodhouse will now take inspiration from its own staff and help to improve the appearance of this community.
