IN response to the Village Idiot, Ringwood (“What You’re Saying Online”, Daily Echo, June 21), my children ages 13 and 12 walk 1.5miles to school everyday, twice a day, cross six roads, one of which has a pelican crossing and one of which is manned by a lollipop lady.
It is absolutely my responsibility to get my children to school and no I do not expect somebody else to do my job for me – that is why from an early age my children were taught the green cross code, how different types of crossings work and stranger danger.
I taught them, nobody else, and thank goodness because they have the indepednence, maturity and confidence to get themselves to school safely.
Without this vital service, provided for years by councils across the UK, children will be seriously injured and indeed killed. Dorset County Council should hang their heads in shame at withdrawing the funding for this service.
