HAVING read your report on the rise in fees for the Driver Awareness Scheme (DAS), I wish to comment on it.

I have been on two of these courses, for different offences, and I wish to say that the £5 increase should not be a problem. People claiming “it’s just another way to make money”, are not true. It’s to teach us a lesson.

At the end of the day it is cheaper than a £60 fine plus three years of higher insurance quotes due to the points. My first DAS was £100 and my second was £155 and my driving has totally changed. They do not talk down to you, they educate you.

People who are offered this should be grateful as in the long-run it is cheaper. Above all, we did break the law in these driving offences, so they shouldn’t complain as laws are made and enforced for a reason.
