I WAS both sad and angry to learn from your report in the Echo of June 24 that thieves had yet again stolen lead from our Old Poole Lifeboat Station.
However, I was not surprised, as the building is in such a poor state, it gives the impression that it is derelict and deserted. No wonder vandalism, graffiti and theft have occurred.
As a long time member of the RNLI I feel ashamed of the image this lovely old building presents to the thousands of visitors from all over the world when they visit our wonderful Poole Quay. Surely the RNLI resources, self-evident by the HQs, college and stores at West Quay Road, are capable of looking after our heritage far better than this.
