I SPENT Friday evening at the Regent Centre watching the musical Grease being performed by Christchurch Youth in Drama (CYD).
What a polished, well-rehearsed production it was. There was talent, commitment and above all, enjoyment on the faces of the young people, working together and developing friendships.
I know that hours of their time have been put into this, not forgetting their director, Jae Harris, and everyone behind the scenes. The three-piece band was first-class – no canned music for them.
So, come on Christchurch – get behind this project – sponsor them.
They have no income, only outlay.
Let’s show our youngsters we are proud of them. Not only did I go on Friday, I bought another ticket for Saturday it was so good. I’ll be there next year – if they can afford it.
