After the saga of the sword in the stone at the roundabout in Wareham, we how have a further enhancment to the town.

There are two animals in Priory Meadow (adjacent to the riverside group of stone benches affectiontely known as Stonehenge).

These are armatures of wire covered with withy. They are to be fair, well-made. They are concreted into the ground. Why do we need them?

One has only to look and see cattle/deer and other wild creatures all around. The money was supplied to Purbeck District Council from a lottery grant.

As any sculpture will tell you, they cost a huge amount of money.

Surely it would be better spent by planting a permanent feature such as a tree, or indeed was it necessary to do anything at all in this pleasant meadow?

Looking at the folk in town with their mobiles or iPods clamped to their ears, perhaps they will not notice them anyway. Mothers, with children will put them on the backs of the creatures and then no doubt sue the council for injury if they scratch themselves.

Let well alone is what I say.
