BILL Hollins (Letters, July 5) is correct in pointing out there are no plans for a duel carriageway between Poole-Honiton,or from Ringwood to Salisbury.
Yes, they are important trunk routes, but they are also very sensitive as regards agriculture and the environment.
A-roads are not more dangerous than any other roads. Most accidents are caused by driver error not by the type of road they are driving on. We have only to look at the report of Dorset Police recently (No Excuse campaign) to realise just how bad driving is in this county.
If were to upgrade these roads, they would become another race track with still more carnage. It is just not going to happen.
Tidworth in Witshire has a most poignant sign on the main road through the town. It reads: ‘Lose the attitude, keep your licence’.
I think that sign applies to us all.
