FOLLOWING the announcement by Bournemouth Council of a further deal with management company Mouchel (Daily Echo, October 13), there are questions that must be answered.

Firstly, Mouchel clearly has problems managing its own affairs and finances so how can they be confident in saving the council £2.23million?

Secondly, if these savings are there to be made, how can it be that the council, with its own experience of these departments, are incapable of making the savings without the introduction of an outside management consultant?

Over nine years this amounts to £250k per annum.

This is insignificant compared to the £5.4million being spent on the new ‘customer relations’ department.
