THE sad news of an elderly lady being knocked down while rightfully using the footway by a cyclist illegally using the footway brings to mind the existence of the hundreds of illegally placed A-boards which impede the passage of pedestrians including shoppers.
Both cyclists and A-boards need clearing from our thoroughfares/footways.
The unnecessary placing of A-boards are a hazard to near blind folk and handicapped pedestrians.
Let’s hope the various shop associations plead with their members to assist our residents and visitors alike to ensure our footpaths are clear by banning A-boards.
Haven’t they, in the main, got shop windows?
