I must take issue with John Coles, who described the opening of the Twin Sails Bridge on Saturday February 25 as ‘a bit of a farce’ (Have Your Say, March 1).
I was one of many from the Rotary Clubs of Poole selling certificates for charity confirming crossing on foot on that first day.
I was on the bridge all day. The town crier and the Dolphin Marching Band were also on parade.
Thousands of people walked across and a substantial sum was raised. Everyone was in very good spirit and much enjoyed the special day. It was very much a family occasion.
It was all very worthwhile and we were heartened by the response of the public.
The mayor was outstanding in the effort he put in to make the public welcome. Let us be positive.
