I AM writing to you about the Dolphin Centre car park. Your readers may not be aware of the ‘six o’clock’ trap.

If, like my sister and her partner, you park your car at 17.53 and leave at 18.38, you will find that rather than the £1.60 minimum charge, you will pay £3.20.

Why? Because you are charged for the seven minutes to 18.00 as part of one charging period, and for the 38 minutes after 18.00 as part of the next period!

Why don’t the machines recognise that a ticket purchased before 18.00 is valid for two hours?
