I READ recent letters re St Clement’s School in St Clement’s Road, Boscombe, with interest.
My children went there and on to Bethany CE.
They are lovely schools and my children enjoyed the time there.
I went to Boscombe Secondary School in Ashley Road, Boscombe. I loved the school but it did have strict discipline and was ran like clockwork.
The teachers put everything into their jobs and we were upset when it merged with Stourfield and became Beaufort School in I believe 1964. There was a school band which played regularly at Dean Court at the reserve games every other week, where some of us went with collecting boxes to help pay for the band’s instruments, teaching and travel.
A uniform was worn and we did not have the problems that many schools have to deal with now.
The band was well known in Bournemouth at that time as was the drama group and many sports boys and girls.
The school is very rarely mentioned now as many people in Bournemouth are too young to remember it, but I am in touch with many pupils from there and a few of us have a get together every year in Springtime.
