I AM sure many people are aware of the local ‘park run’ in Poole Park on Saturday mornings.
This is a free event run by volunteers and is an asset to the town – attracting more than 200 local (and not so local) people every week to run for free and keep fit – no matter what their ability.
Runners have had use of the cricket pavilion until recently (for toilets, bag storage etc) but currently the facilities are being improved.
This will be great once it is finished – but in the meantime the council has refused to supply even one temporary toilet.
However, they will spend thousands of pounds on a firework display to ‘celebrate’ the opening of the new bridge – a display which in my mind does nothing for the local residents apart from cost them money?
Does this seem fair?
Surely you would think that the council would encourage this free event, which in turn encourages fitness and a feeling of camaraderie among residents of all ages and levels of fitness?
