HAVING been in the shipbuilding industry for most of my working life it was common knowledge that if laying material such as cement, concrete or tarmac onto a deck, ‘sprigs’ would be welded to the deck first.
These ‘butterfly wing’ shaped pieces of metal would then help the top layer to adhere to the steel deck and not move.
Did not these Twin Sails bridge expert designers not know of this trick that any shipyard steel worker could have told them?
