HAVING just attended this afternoon’s production of The Gruffalo at the Bournemouth Pavilion Theatre I must congratulate the production company and theatre for a most brilliant adaptation of the book.
The three actors were truly amazing and the whole production kept the audience of mostly very young children absolutely enthralled and made them a part of the scenes.
My two-and-a-half-year-old son loved it, even though the characters of the book, apart from the Gruffalo himself, were not in the traditional costume, which again I thought was fantastic, especially the snake, he recognised each one. The actors’ portrayal and involvement of the audience was truly awe-inspiring there seemed to be almost no occasion when they lost them and even when it appeared that one of their microphones was having trouble their professionalism shone through and did not affect the quality of the performance what so ever.
Rarely am I moved to write my feelings of something I have seen or heard but the fact that such a performance of something known so well by children and adults alike could capture my son for an hour at so young was brilliant.
Again my heart-felt congratulations for such a brilliant performance.
